Drainage

Burying perforated tube (tiles) in the soil speeds up a fields’ drainage process and brings the field to a uniform moisture level. This allows farmers to start working the field sooner after rain, reducing compaction . It should be noted, despite tile drainage, tillage can slow down field drainage because it destroys the macro pore pathways from earthworms and plant roots. Farmers with long term no-tilled fields claim they don’t need the extra tiles because of increased water infiltration rates.  Tiling is a long term investment but is required in many soil conditions.  Tiling projects should always be designed by Licensed Drainage Contractors.
